About

At 6 years old I adopted my first pet. It happened to be a dog but over the years my menagerie grew to include cats, more dogs, chickens, rabbits, goats, an affectionate and demonstrative hog named Nana, sheep, ducks, and at one point, 2 orphaned baby bear cubs. And no, I didn’t live in farm country, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California!

But I didn’t stop there. I also brought home people – classmates, newly made acquaintances, friends I hadn’t met yet (complete strangers), and anyone I felt needed a friend. Over the years, I adopted so many people and animals that I created a world called MargeauLand where everybody loved everybody no matter what size, color or species. My Mom never turned anyone away and that lesson stayed with me throughout the years. I learned early in life that everyone should have a home, even if it’s only temporary because having a home gives you a firm foundation, a launchpoint, as it were. I also learned that home is way more than just a dwelling.

Blessed with such a background, it was only natural for me to begin my career in the nonprofit sector. I spent 20 fulfilling years there before embarking on a whole new adventure, moving across the country and starting a new life on a different coast. As a political activist in California, you can imagine the opportunities that moving to the nation’s capital afforded me. Wowee!

My new life and career in real estate brought a fresh perspective, rooted in my philosophy of serving others as a Realtor. I have built lasting relationships with clients who now trust me to find homes for their loved ones, including their children and grandchildren. Coming from the nonprofit sector, where people always come first, this is important to me.

One day I surfed the Internet for hours but couldn’t find a website specifically designed to cater to the real estate needs of my generation. I couldn’t believe it! It was then that I decided to create a website tailored to this community, of which I am proud to be a part of and serve. As a Goldie Oldie (GOLE) myself, I understand the unique obstacles and possibilities that accompany aging. I recognize the perceptions society holds towards older people in the United States and I am resolute in my commitment to combat age discrimination in all its manifestations. Because guess what? We’re not old, we’re experienced. We’re not outdated, we’re classic. And here in MargeauLand, we celebrate and embrace the beauty of aging.
